Long Weekend Away.

The clock is winding down for us in England. I know that I should feel super stressed and have a million things going on at once, but I don’t. I guess if you have spent the last 6 years packing and unpacking it all becomes second nature. I have a pile of laundry sitting waiting to be folded and put away, but I feel the blog has been neglected a bit too much. I know everyone is wondering what the heck we have been up to.

We decided to head up to Scotland for the long weekend. We figured that this was going to be the last trip we could take before we head back to good ol’ USA. I’m not going to lie when I say that I wasn’t a little scared when it came to this trip. Every time we go to Scotland something crazy happens. The first time we went to Scotland Jake pulled people out of an accident that happened in front of us, and the second time our car broke down. I’m happy to say that everything went great, and no major incidents occurred. I was a little worried because the hotel parking was a in a dirt lot in the middle of the city. The second day that we showed up at the parking lot I was half expecting to have our windows bashed in, or the car stolen. I think we had some good luck because everything went great.

We spend out first day taking Reagan to the zoo. We covered ourselves in sunscreen, because it was a HOT day, and headed out for the long walk to the zoo. It was not only a major hit for Jake and I, but also Reagan. We were extremely surprised with the activity levels of all the animals. We saw so many baby monkeys playing, and clinging to their mommy’s backs. We also saw zebras playing in the safari park. It was a major hit and Reagan wanted to take a penguin home with her. I’m sad to report that we didn’t see a Panda; I know that Bean is dying to know. Reagan did find a Panda in the gift shop and totally went right for it, but being the mean parents that we are, she left the zoo without any over-priced zoo gifts. I think the memories and pictures are gifts enough!

The bed time routine was rather rough being in a small hotel together. After laying her down Jake and I needed to leave the room in order for her to fall asleep, but were could we go? Jake said the hotel bar, but that was a little too far away for me. We compromised by hiding in the bathroom together. I think the fact that we had to hang out in the bathroom waiting for Reagan to be good and asleep before entering our room again will be a great (and funny) memory. We both enjoyed a nice cold beer and book. It was just funny to be sitting on the floor of a hotel bathroom waiting for our kid to be asleep. Reagan was not a big fan of the hotel pack n’ play, but she’ll have to get used to it considering it will be her bed for the next few months.

I will have one more posting of Scotland coming soon!
