I have been thinking about Reagan’s birthday party for months. I started thinking of ideas I finally settled on the theme, “Look Who’s Turning 1.” The reason I settled on this is that I hate cartoon themed parties. You will never see a Dora the Explorer party as long as I have something to say about it. I also think that owls are super cute and I thought of all sorts of things I could do with my cupcakes. We invited our friends in England to the party and we had around 40 people show up, which is a good number considering we have no family here. We had the second best thing, great friends. I was so grateful for all the people that came to Reagan’s party. It meant so much to Jake and I for everyone to spend their Saturday celebrating our little girl’s 1st birthday.

I was really worried because when we woke up in the morning it was wet and cold outside. I tried to tell myself that the weather would clear up, but I was afraid it wouldn’t. I was not sure how my house would be able to accommodate 40 people, but the weather cleared and I didn’t have to worry about it. It actually turned out just as I had pictured. We set up tables with a tent over the top to shield whatever the weather had in store. We had the back gate open for the older kids to play at the park, and a blanket on the grass with toys for the younger kids to play with. It was just a wonderful party. I was a little worried because I was trying to host the party and it wasn’t until 4pm that I finally felt like I could settle down and enjoy some conversation with friends. I feel like I didn’t get to chat with everyone until later on. I wanted to make sure I stuck to a schedule because I knew that a group of people had other obligations that day. I think everything worked out just great.

I have been asked what we did as food. We had potato chips, baked beans, hotdogs, burgers, chili burgers & pork and apple burgers. Then for dessert I made vanilla cupcakes with pink dyed frosting and an owl face. I also had chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I knew that some people don’t like cake so I had some homemade sugar cookies for them. Then for goodie bag I did chocolate & vanilla cake pops. I tired to do owl face cake pops, but the pink candy coating I used made them look more like little pigs. I decided to just do circle cake pops with sprinkles.

I want to say thank you for all the family & friends that made my little girl’s birthday so special. I know that many of you were not able to make it to her party, but the fact that you sent something was so nice.

Thanks to my friends for taking pictures at the party so I can now share with my blog readers!
