The Holidays

How much Reagan has changed in just one year.

Look how big our almost 18 month old is getting!

I can’t believe that it’s only 10 days till Christmas. It seems like Christmas was just here yesterday, but isn’t that life once you become a parent. The time goes so fast, and you can’t do anything to slow it down.

For the most part I don’t mind being a military wife. I don’t mind the moving, packing, moving and more packing. I don’t mind that were constantly leaving old friends and are forced to make new ones. I don’t mind that I never get to become established at a career because I get to be a stay at home mom. I don’t mind that we live far away from our families because we have each other. Okay, I do HATE it when Jake is deployed, but that is for another posting. I don’t mind being away from family, until it’s the holidays. I know it’s important for us to start our own traditions as a family, but it still feels a little sad that we don’t have grandparents for Reagan on Christmas, or Aunts and Uncle over on Thanksgiving. I don’t know if it will ever feel right not having family during the holidays. I get jealous of all the people that get to be together with their families over the holidays, but that isn't going to stop me from making the holidays the BEST for us. I think that starting traditions are the key factors. We started off our traditions with taking Reagan to see Santa, which she loved. I was shocked that she was fine seeing Santa because as we waited in line she clung to me more the closer we got to the front of the line. I think the fact that a dog got it's picture with Santa right before us had Reagan enthralled. She did amazing with the pictures, which still amazes me. The next big things to come this week are Christmas cookies, Christmas Eve Church, Christmas Dinner & hopefully some Skype. I will hopefully have lots more pictures to come from our Christmas week ahead. Happy Holidays to everyone.

  2. It is so tough to be away from family, especially during the holidays. But making your own traditions and making it the best that you can is the only thing that we can do.It just makes the time that we have with our family only more that memorable and special to us and our children.
